Swim Alberta Time Standards - 2023-24 Season UPDATES Coming soon!

  • Festival (South) for Girls aged 10 & Under / Boys aged 11 & Under
  • Alberta Provincials
  • Alberta Championship

* A note about qualifying times:

These are benchmark times that can be used a goals for swimmers throughout the season. Achieving one of these qualifying standards allows swimmers to attend those Provincial level meets. These QT's may also serve as minimum qualification standards (or dequalification standards) for invitational meets.

A good rule of thumb is to look at the qualifying time for the age group BELOW the swimmer's current best time. If they have achieved that time, then it is reasonable to aim for achieving the QT for their current age group. If they aren't there yet, that's ok! We just keep working toward improvements based on their current level of skill and achievement.

Keep in mind, the times are calculated based on a multi-year progression - there are generally 2 (or more) age groups contained within that qualifying standard. As such, the times are wieghted slighly more toward the top age within that category. It is common for swimmers to achieve the QT for their age group when they are at the "top" of their age group, and it may take 2 seasons to achieve the QT for their new age group.
